Don’t Call It Table Tennis, It’s The World Championship of Ping Pong

The World Championship of Ping Pong 2014 brings a cracking sport back to television. 

This is the third tournament presenting what the organizers call  ‘Pure’ Ping Pong. The action unfolds in London, England, at The Alexandra Palace. For the event organizers, getting the lively play on the world stage combined some old trends, new ideas and some legal hoops.

15 Sports Figures Who Came Out As Gay In 2015

Award winning freestyle competitive skier Gus Kenworthy appears in Vibrant TV’s series World of Free Sports, season 3 episodes 11 and 12, which originally aired in 2013. In 2015, two years after competing in the event in Zurich, Kenworthy blew up the internet pretty good (and arguably continues to blow it up) after coming out as gay. 

Kenworthy has talked about his struggle as a homosexual in the world of action sports where he perceived being gay as “not cool”, and all he ever wanted was to be cool. 2015 pushed the United States, and the world, into a new era of acceptance and equality where, among other indicators, Facebook has presented a study showing the increase of individuals coming out on the ol’ FB in response to landmark moments over the last year. It is safe to conclude that the increased presence of gay celebrities has influenced other gay celebrities as well as private individuals to be out and proud.

To honor Kenworthy, his early television appearance on World of Free Sports, and all the other celebrities who came out last year, here are 15 sports figures who came out in 2015 you may not have known about.
